Personal Atlas is a private world map of the places you have been and of where the people you have dated come from, stored on your iPhone.

What can I do with Personal Atlas?
- Mark countries, regions and cities you have visited, with first-visit year and whether you lived there.
- Drop a pin anywhere on the map with a name, note, year, color and symbol.
- A timeline to view your places year by year, with route lines between stops.
- Connections: record people you dated or were intimate with and where they are from, were born, grew up, their heritage and where they live.
- Names are optional: a connection can be initials, a nickname or blank.
- Insights: continent coverage, distance travelled and overlaps between your travels and your connections' origins.
How do I mark a place as visited?
In the Been tab, tap a country on the map or in the list and turn on "I've been here". You can also set the first-visit year and whether you lived there. Open Regions & cities to mark places inside the country; marking one also marks its country.
How do I drop a pin?
Touch and hold anywhere on the map in the Been tab. Give the pin a name, and if you like a note, year, color and symbol. Tap a pin later to edit it or remove it.
Where did the sample places and people come from?
On first launch Personal Atlas adds a short sample story so the map isn't empty. You can deselect sample countries during setup, turn off "I've been here" for a country (this also clears its regions and cities), and remove a sample person from their page in Connections with Remove from atlas.
Do I have to use real names in Connections?
No. A connection can have a full name, initials, a nickname or no name at all.
Do I need an account?
No. Personal Atlas works without signing in.
Where is my data kept?
On your device. We don’t have a copy, so we can’t recover it if you delete the app; keep your device backed up.
How do I delete my data?
Deleting Personal Atlas from your device removes what it keeps in its own storage.
