Popcorn Panic Privacy Policy
In short
- Popcorn Panic keeps your information on your device and, for the features described under “What leaves your device”, on our server and with the services listed there.
- No tracking and no ads. Popcorn Panic doesn’t track you across other companies’ apps or websites and doesn’t show ads.
- No analytics or crash-reporting services are built in.
- No account: you don’t sign in, and we don’t know who you are.
Who we are
Popcorn Panic is published by Marketgence Technologies LLC (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use Popcorn Panic on your iPhone or iPad. Questions: [email protected].
What stays on your device
Popcorn Panic keeps these on your device, in the app’s own storage that other apps can’t read:
- Your player name, avatar and colour.
- A random player ID created for this installation.
- Your spin history, stats and achievements.
- Your Watch Later list and movie collections.
- Settings such as sound and haptics.
Like other app data, it may be included in your device backups (iCloud Backup or a computer backup) if you use them.

We don’t sell your information, and it isn’t used for advertising.
Our server
For each party room, by room code: each player's display name, random player ID, avatar and colour, their movie picks and votes, the current round, the last 30 winners with the name of the player who picked each, and win counts by name. Public rooms also appear in the Open rooms list with the host's and players' names.
Where it runs: our party backend (a Cloudflare Worker with Durable Objects, hosted by Rork on rork.app). How long it’s kept: Players who leave are dropped after about 90 seconds while someone is still in the room. When everyone leaves, the room's saved state, including names, history and win counts, is kept with no automatic deletion. A room leaves the Open rooms list when it's made private, empties or stops reporting for 2 minutes.
Services we use
These outside services receive data from Popcorn Panic to make it work. Each handles that data under its own privacy policy.
- Rork and Cloudflare (hosting our party backend)
- Runs the live party rooms, invite pages and Open rooms list. What it receives: Party room data (display name, player ID, avatar, colour, picks and votes) plus normal request data such as your IP address. When you host or join a party room, open the Open rooms list or check a room code. Room data as described in this policy; request logs under their own policies.
- The Movie Database (TMDB)
- Movie search, trending lists, details, posters and trailer lists. What it receives: Your search text and the movies you open, plus normal request data such as your IP address; no player ID or name. Only when the app uses TMDB's online movie data; otherwise it uses its built-in movie list. Under TMDB's own policy. Privacy policy: themoviedb.org.
- YouTube (Google)
- Plays movie trailers inside the app with YouTube's privacy-enhanced player. What it receives: Normal request data such as your IP address and device information; YouTube may use cookies under Google's policy. Only when you open a trailer. Under Google's own policy. Privacy policy: policies.google.com.
Permissions
Popcorn Panic doesn’t ask for access to your camera, microphone, photos, location, contacts or other protected information.
Tracking, ads and analytics
Popcorn Panic doesn’t track you: it doesn’t link information about you with information from other companies’ apps, websites or data brokers, and it doesn’t use an advertising identifier.
Popcorn Panic doesn’t show ads.
It has no analytics or crash-reporting services. If you’ve chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone’s settings, Apple may share crash reports with us; Apple doesn’t include your identity.
Accounts
There are no accounts in Popcorn Panic. You don’t sign in or give us your name or email address.
Purchases
Popcorn Panic has no in-app purchases.
Children
Popcorn Panic isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them.
How long data is kept, and deleting it
Information on your device stays until you delete it. You can delete it in the app: Spin History ▸ Clear removes your spin history. There's no single control that erases everything; deleting the app removes all data stored on the device. Deleting Popcorn Panic removes the information it keeps in its own storage on your device; copies in your backups remain until you delete those.
On our server: Players who leave are dropped after about 90 seconds while someone is still in the room. When everyone leaves, the room's saved state, including names, history and win counts, is kept with no automatic deletion. A room leaves the Open rooms list when it's made private, empties or stops reporting for 2 minutes. Party room data can't be deleted from the app. The host can remove a player from the room. To have a room's saved data deleted, contact us with the room code.

Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example in the European Union, the United Kingdom or California), you may have the right to know what information we hold about you, to get a copy, to correct or delete it, and to object to how it’s used. To make a request or a complaint, email [email protected]. You can also contact your local data-protection authority.
Changes to this policy
If we change how Popcorn Panic handles information, we’ll update this page and its effective date, and list the change below.
