  • Verdure keeps your information on your device (and in your own iCloud account). Some data leaves your device only for the features described under “What leaves your device”, and only when you use them.
  • No tracking and no ads. Verdure doesn’t track you across other companies’ apps or websites and doesn’t show ads.
  • No analytics or crash-reporting services are built in.
  • No account: you don’t sign in, and we don’t know who you are.
  • Purchases are handled by Apple. We never see your payment details.

Who we are

Verdure is published by Marketgence Technologies LLC (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use Verdure on your iPhone or iPad. Questions: [email protected].

What stays on your device

Verdure keeps these on your device, in the app’s own storage that other apps can’t read:

We don’t receive this information and can’t see it.

Like other app data, it may be included in your device backups (iCloud Backup or a computer backup) if you use them.

iCloud. If you turn on iCloud sync, Off for new installs. Turn it on in Settings ▸ Your data ▸ Optional iCloud garden sync; it applies after you reopen the app. It syncs your garden records, including plant photos and identification results, to your own private iCloud database. Original diary and checkup photos stay on the device. Turning sync off doesn't erase what's already in iCloud. It’s off unless you turn it on. Only you can read it: it’s kept by Apple under Apple’s Privacy Policy, not by us.

Services we use

These outside services receive data from Verdure to make it work. Each handles that data under its own privacy policy.

Rork Toolkit (AI gateway)
Forwards the app's AI requests to Google Gemini. What it receives: The photos, messages and plant records in each AI request, sent under our key with no account or device ID, plus normal request data such as your IP address. Only after you allow cloud AI, and only when you ask for help. Under Rork's own policy.
Google (Gemini 2.5 Flash)
Identifies plants, reviews plant health and answers gardening questions. What it receives: The photos, messages and plant records in each AI request. Only after you allow cloud AI, and only when you ask for help. Under Google's own policy. Privacy policy: policies.google.com.
Apple (iCloud)
Syncs your garden to your own private iCloud database. What it receives: Your garden records, including plant photos and identification results; we can't access your private iCloud data. Only if you turn on Optional iCloud garden sync. Until you delete it; turning sync off doesn't erase it. Privacy policy: apple.com.

Artificial intelligence

Plant identification, health checks and checkups, photo-area questions, care guides and the Sage chat. It uses Google (Gemini 2.5 Flash) through Rork Toolkit (Rork's AI gateway). It’s off until you choose to use it. When you use it, this is sent: The photo you choose, resized and re-encoded (for a checkup also your latest earlier diary photo; for an area question a crop), your question or messages, and the selected plant's records, including any location note you typed. No account or device ID. The service generates the answer and may keep request records under its own policy. Don’t include anything you wouldn’t want processed this way.

AI-generated text can be wrong or incomplete; see the Terms of Use.

Permissions

Verdure asks for these only when you use the feature that needs them. You can change your answer at any time in the Settings app.

What Verdure may ask for, and why
PermissionWhy
CameraTo photograph plants for identification and care guidance.
NotificationsTo send daily care reminders, scheduled on your device, if you turn on Daily care alerts.

Tracking, ads and analytics

Verdure doesn’t track you: it doesn’t link information about you with information from other companies’ apps, websites or data brokers, and it doesn’t use an advertising identifier.

Verdure doesn’t show ads.

It has no analytics or crash-reporting services. If you’ve chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone’s settings, Apple may share crash reports with us; Apple doesn’t include your identity.

Accounts

There are no accounts in Verdure. You don’t sign in or give us your name or email address.

Purchases

Verdure offers auto-renewable subscriptions through Apple’s App Store. Apple processes the payment and knows what you bought; we don’t receive your name, email address or payment details. The app checks what you’ve bought on your device with Apple’s StoreKit. Apple’s Privacy Policy applies to the purchase.

Children

Verdure isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them.

How long data is kept, and deleting it

Information on your device stays until you delete it. You can delete it in the app: Settings (gear icon on Today) ▸ Your data ▸ Erase data and start again deletes your whole garden, diary photos and reminders, and turns AI permission off. With iCloud sync on, the deletion syncs to iCloud as well. Deleting Verdure removes the information it keeps in its own storage on your device; copies in your backups or your iCloud account remain until you delete those. If you've bought something, a random purchase identifier that the app keeps in the iOS Keychain can stay on the device after the app is deleted, so your purchases can be matched again; it doesn't identify you.

Rork Toolkit (AI gateway): Under Rork's own policy.

Google (Gemini 2.5 Flash): Under Google's own policy.

Apple (iCloud): Until you delete it; turning sync off doesn't erase it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example in the European Union, the United Kingdom or California), you may have the right to know what information we hold about you, to get a copy, to correct or delete it, and to object to how it’s used. Because Verdure keeps your information on your device, you can see, change and delete it in the app. To make a request or a complaint, email [email protected]. You can also contact your local data-protection authority.

Changes to this policy

If we change how Verdure handles information, we’ll update this page and its effective date, and list the change below.
